Resumiendo la noticia: la oficina de patentes y marcas emitio una patente a la firma Minerva Industries, Inc. (con sede en Los Angeles, California) en la que el objeto patentado se describe como un aparato del tamaño de la palma que es capaz de soportar comunicaciones inhalambricas o satelitales y que posee características multimedia.

The device also includes a camera and microphone for recording images and sound within the range of the device that can be wirelessly transmitted, either selectively or automatically to a remote telephone. Further, the device includes sensors for sensing unusual conditions that may also be transmitted to a remote telephone, together with the location of the device as determined by a GPS section of the device."
Como si esto no fuera poco a poco de ser aprobada la patente, la empresa, inicio a razón de tres demandas a cada compañía que fabrica telefonos celulares. Entre tales empresas se encuentran: Apple, Nokia, RIM, Sprint, AT&T, HP, Motorola, Helio, HTC, Sony Ericsson, UTStarcomm, Samsung, etc. Cuan poco, se preguntaran, pues apenas un minuto después.
La nota de color, las demandas se habían presentado el día lunes, pero debieron ser retiradas hasta las 12:01 AM del martes. Momento en el cual la patente entró en vigencia.
